Guidance Notes to Entrants
The Cloud World Series Awards are a unique celebration of the drive, innovation and hard work in the global cloud computing industry. The 2014 s awards featured 5 categories, recognising services from across the Cloud ecosystem; world class experts in Cloud Computing were part of the independent Judging Board.
Category 1: Best Cloud Service
Service is one of the key features of cloud computing. The “Best Cloud Service” category is defined by the basic technology building blocks on which all other products and services are built. Often our most competitive award category, the Best Cloud Service award provides an opportunity for organisations to cement their name as a leading cloud computing and IT provider.
Category 2: Best Cloud Application
A cloud application leverages cloud computing in software architecture, often eliminating the need to install and run the application on the customer’s own computer, thus alleviating the burden of software maintenance, ongoing operation, and support. For many businesses, cloud computing is all about the delivery of scalable, efficient and cost-effective applications.
Category 3: Best Cloud Platform
The “Best Cloud Platform” category is for entrants defined as a cloud platform, delivering a computing platform and/or solution stack that allow customers to successfully run software applications in an environment composed of utility cloud services, generally consuming
cloud infrastructure and supporting cloud applications. Platform as a Service (PaaS) is widely regarded as cloud computing’s flagship, allowing developers a space in which to work from while placing the most complex of infrastructure issues into the hands of the cloud service provider.
Category 4: Best Cloud Security Solution
This category will be awarded to the company who has developed the most innovative package of solutions in one of Cloud’s most well-publicised foes: security. With a number of companies offering very different products in this regard, competition is fierce in tackling the end-users’ most pressing concern over moving their IT and sensitive data over to the Cloud.
Category 5: Best Cloud Data Centre/Storage Solution
As one of the most fundamental prerequisites in the offer of a Cloud solution, storage space agility is key to attracting new customer in the Cloud. This category will look at the most innovative and efficient solutions of cloud Data centres and storage space, focusing on agility, flexibility and data processing efficiency.
Category 6: Best Big Data Analytics Solution
As we all know, Big Data presents huge challenges to organisations the world over – from the amount of data being produced to the way in which it is structured and used. However, Big Data Analytics also unlocks new opportunities for organisations to visualise their data, spot trends and gain true business insight. Which are the solutions that can best help clients design, develop and execute a big data strategy that will enhance and complement existing systems and processes?
We look forward to continuing this celebration of excellence next year at the Cloud Word Forum 2015!
